Welcome! My name is Mrs. Carol Lynn Moy, and I am so excited to be a Social Studies teacher this year with Mrs. Domenick (Science), Mrs. Darata (Math), and Mrs. Chamma (Literacy). I am beginning my 26th year of teaching (24th year in 5th grade). I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from Trenton State College and a Master's of Education from William Paterson University. My teaching experiences have also included 5th grade (Math, Literacy & Science) and 6th/7th grade (Math, Social Studies & Science). These different learning environments have helped to shape me as a teacher.
There are many things that I enjoy outside the classroom. I spend as much time as I can at the beach with my family (especially with my puppy, Gracie). My son and daughter love the ocean. Another thing that I really enjoy is reading. I read for entertainment, but also to learn about the world around me. I am intrigued by other cultures and their traditions. My newest hobby is kayaking. I have been around Cape May Harbor a few times. I look forward to buying my own kayak and paddling around the Delaware Bay.
Fifth grade is an exciting year of growth and learning for children. I will strive to provide your student with a solid academic foundation as he/she begins their middle school years. My expectations are high, and I will challenge your student to exceed standards; however, my approach will be a differentiated one that meets the needs of the individual child in a positive, caring learning environment. I am looking forward to guiding students on this important journey as they begin middle school and beyond.
Your support is much appreciated. During the school year, if there is a need to discuss your child's progress or a special concern, please feel free to send a note or email me (cmoy@veronaschools.org) to make an appointment. If you have an emergency or change in your child's dismissal on a given day, please call the school office directly (973-571-6751), as I am not permitted to check email during instructional time.
I am very excited about working with you and your child, and am confident that we will have a wonderful 2024-2025 school year!!!!!
