Dear Verona Families,
One of the goals of the Elementary Library Media Program is to foster a love of reading and an appreciation of literature. The summer months are a perfect opportunity for children to embrace who they are as a reader and extend their reading experiences.
Linked is my website with Summer Reading
information and the website for the Verona Public Library. Please note that there are no required readings, just a list of suggestions. On my website, there are two tabs, one with Summer Reading and the other (Books) has a list of books by level. It is important to note that while there is a wide range of reading levels, the levels are just a guide.
Children should read what they want to read this summer. If a child is interested and engaged in a book that is not at their level, it is perfectly fine. It is equally important for children to be read aloud to, or challenge themselves to read text above level, as well as enjoy and master text below level. Please enjoy all of the other attached summer activities as well and be sure to visit the Verona Public Library and sign up for their amazing Summer Reading Program.
I wish you a happy, fun, and restful summer and I can’t wait to hear about the books that you and your children read over the summer!
In partnership with a supportive community, we inspire our students to be creative, critical thinkers and compassionate global citizens through dynamic teaching, meaningful curricula, and enriching experiences.
