Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year
I am thrilled to beginning my fourth year teaching at H.B.W. School! Even though I was raised a few minutes up Bloomfield Avenue in Roseland, I have always viewed Verona to be a special place. Verona really is the quintessential "small town USA." There is so much I love about Verona. Some of my favorite things include its walkable downtown, historic homes and bulidings, and beautiful parks.
Prior to coming to H.B.W., I taught sixth grade social studies for four years at Robert R. Lazar Middle School in Montville, NJ. I hold certifications in Elementary Education (K-6), Middle School Social Studies (5-8), Middle School English Language Arts (5-8) and Teacher of Students with Disabilities.
I'm looking forward to focusing my energy on helping all students, but especially those students with learning differences. It's okay if you don't learn material in the traditional manner. I'll explore a range of different avenues for understanding new information with you.
This year, I'll be teaching English Language Arts and Core Strategies/Support class. I'm also co-teaching with a number of other talented teachers. There's a good chance you'll see me in your math, science or social studies class. If there's one thing I believe, it's that ALL students are capable of achieving success. Some students just need different supports and strategies to master new content.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have a wonderful husband, Peter, and three sons, ten-year-old Kevin, eight-year-old Jack and four-year-old Thomas. I also love to read, cook, garden and get my hands dirty with a slew of DIY projects.
I'm looking forward to a wonderful year as one of your teachers!
