Mr. Thomas Lancaster
Principal, Olmsted House
Mr. Lancaster will begin his second year as Principal of the Olsted House at Henry B. Whitehorne Middle School. Prior to joining HBW, Mr. Lancaster served as the Assistant Principal for Verona High School for six years. During his time at Verona High School, Mr. Lancaster worked collaboratively with the students, teachers, staff, and administration to create innovative academic experiences that foster greater exploration and opportunities for success. Mr. Lancaster regularly welcomed students each morning and promoted a supportive and encouraging environment for all students, and he plans to continue to support and encourage every student at Henry B. Whitehorne Middle School. Mr. Lancaster is excited to work with the teachers and staff as they utilize the resources that the house model offers.
Before joining Verona Public Schools in 2015, Mr. Lancaster spent twelve years as an English teacher for the West Essex Regional School District. Mr. Lancaster also coached baseball for twelve years at West Essex and he coached basketball for six years at West Essex. Mr. Lancaster was also an adjunct professor at Essex County Community College and he currently volunteers to serve as a member of The Gifted Child Society Board of Directors.
Mr. Lancaster earned his B.A. in English from Montclair State University and his M.A. in Educational Leadership, Management, and Policy from Seton Hall University. Mr. Lancaster also earned an Honorable Discharge after serving four years in the United States Marine Corps.
