Welcome To English 8C- Dr. Stacey Smith

Hello, 8C!  My name is Dr. Stacey Smith, and I will be your English teacher this year. This is my 29th year teaching.  I spent 20 years at VHS before coming to HBW.  I love everything about HB, and I am looking forward to working with all of you.

My favorite book is JD Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye, which you will read in high school. My favorite movies are The Wizard of Oz and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory- the old one.  The new one is a little creepy. I am a fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Bruins.  Yes, it is hard being a Boston fan in Jersey. Glitter is my favorite color, and I would argue with anyone that it IS a color. I love my coffee, especially pumpkin flavors.  Needless to say, fall is my favorite time of year.  I also love to run.  I am sure that many of you have seen me running around Verona.  I have done three full marathons and four half marathons, with my fifth happening this year.  I did two half marathons in Hawaii, which, next to Boston, is my favorite place to visit.

I live in Whippany with my husband, Jim, and daughter, Delaney, and our new doggie, Miley- as in Cyrus. Delaney is a junior at Sacred Heart University where she will be swimming. To all my swimmers out there, swimming IS a sport!

I am so excited to be with you for your last year at HBW.  We will work hard, but have lots of fun doing it.  I am always here to help you however I can. I want you to always feel comfortable reaching out to me when you feel stressed or confused, and to share amazing news with me.   We got this!!!
