Mrs. Rodzen

Welcome

Dear Parents and Guardians:

It is a pleasure to welcome you and your child to 7th grade English at Henry B. Whitehorne Middle School. This course will focus on effective reading, critical thinking, and writing skills aligned to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards. Students will be challenged to discuss and write about the topics addressed in class.  As an educator, my goal is to provide exceptional instruction and support, so that your child succeeds in all aspects of the English curriculum this year and for the years to come.

In order to have a successful school year, I expect all students to represent characteristics of engaged learners.  These expectations include:

·         Responsibility and initiative

·         Developing collaborative skills with their peers

·         Organization and structure

·         Illustration of a positive learning attitude

In addition, homework will be assigned on a daily basis. Students will be given their homework assignment at the end of each period. However, if a student does not remember the assignment, they can see me at the end of the day in room 303, check Google Classroom, or join my Remind. It is important that you check Google Classroom every day to view updated assignments.

As a final point, if you ever need to contact me regarding your child’s progress or behavior in my class, please feel free to email me at yrodzen@veronaschools.org, or you can call the school, 973-571-6751, and leave a message with the secretary and I will get back to you as soon as I can. I look forward to a great year with the students!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Rodzen
