    We are pleased to welcome back all Sixth Graders and their families to H.B.Whitehorne Middle School and the 2024-2025 school year. We have a fun filled year ahead of us. The first few days and weeks of school will be very hectic, but don't worry in just a few weeks you will be back in the swing of things. Please remember that Team 6 Olmsted will be here for you every step of the way and you may come to any of us with anything.

        1  HBW Sixth Grade Grading Policy

     

    The sixth grade department has adopted the following grading policy. Each subject area has a slight difference in categories graded. Individual classroom teachers have the discretion to modify this policy for specific students and/or classes.

    The weight of each category per subject:

    Literacy

    Math

     

    Assessments:  (Quizzes, Tests, Classwork) 90%

    Classwork, Class Participation, Homework:  10%

     

     

    Assessments (Quizzes, Tests, Classwork, etc.): 90%

    Classwork, Class Participation, Homework:  10%

    Social Studies

    Science

     

    Assessments (Quizzes, Tests, Classwork, etc.): 90%

    Classwork, Class Participation, Homework:  10%

     

     

    Assessments (Quizzes, Tests, Labs, Projects): 90%

    Classwork, Class Participation, Homework:  10%

     

    If a student does not complete or submit a task, assessment, project, or assignment, then a zero will be earned as a grade. If a teacher determines that the student did not attempt to meet the basic requirements of the task/assessment, then a zero will be earned as a grade.

     

    At the teacher’s discretion, late assignments (not including daily HW) will receive a deduction of points per day late. After one week, a student must still hand in a late assignment, but no credit will be given.

     

    No extra credit assignments will be given to any student.
