National Art Honor Society 2020-2021
The purpose of the National Art Honor Society is to recognize and inspire high school art and graphic arts students to attain the highest standards in art areas and to bring an appreciation of art to the attention of the school and to the community. NAHS requires student members to be currently taking art or graphics and to maintain a B average or higher in the class.
While we are virtual, NAHS meetings will be held on various days through the school year during the common lunch period (announced on Google Classroom). Our meetings will consist of various activities that can be completed at home with the materials the artists already have. For instance, we plan to create collaborative works of art (“grid piece” style), participate in peer-to-peer critiques on Google Classroom, build a social media presence with an NAHS Instagram page, and develop expressive projects that are culturally relevant/respond to current issues. The members of NAHS (as guided by the student officers) will also have ample opportunity to suggest project/activity ideas that incorporate the group’s interests and passions. When we are able to meet in person, our club meetings will keep the same staple activities mentioned above but incorporate Creative Arts Festival fundraising/planning and exploration of various media available in the art room.
If you are interested in being a member of the National Art Honor Society, please join the NAHS Google Classroom (code: u4pzcwz) for more information! If you have any questions at all, feel free to contact the NAHS advisor (Ms. Carvajal) using the email address below.
