This is Mrs. Lavoie's twenty-third year teaching in Verona. She graduated from the University of Scranton with a BS in Elementary Education. Her experiences in education include working at The Phoenix Center, a special needs school for students ages 5-21, formerly in Little Falls. She also taught first grade in Newark, NJ and worked in the Preschool Intervention Program in Verona. She has 2 children and resides in Verona.

Her goal is to create a classroom environment in which the students feel safe and secure. Students' needs and concerns are respected in such an environment. In this setting, students strive to become independent workers and thinkers. Learning experiences are hands-on and encompass many styles to reach all the different abilities of the students.
