Dr. Lanzo has had the pleasure of serving as Principal of F.N. Brown School since August 1, 2002. Prior to taking this post, he taught second grade at St. Rocco School in Newark shortly after graduating from Seton Hall University with a BA in History. During Dr. Lanzo's first two years of teaching he completed a Master's Degree in Elementary Education at Seton Hall. Upon completion of that degree, Dr. Lanzo continued to grow professionally as a teacher of grades 2 and 5 in the Livingston Public Schools. He enrolled in the Educational Specialist Program at Seton Hall during the last few years of his elementary teaching career at Riker Hill Elementary School in Livingston. Through this program, Dr. Lanzo acquired insightful knowledge about curriculum and evaluation and the many facets of school leadership. As a culminating experience to this program, Dr. Lanzo completed an administrative internship at Riker Hill. He earned his administrator's license in addition to achieving his degree in Administration and Supervision through the Ed. S. Program.
Dr. Lanzo's first administrative experience included serving as an Assistant Principal at Oak Street Elementary School in Bernards Township. He also supervised the gifted and talented program for the district. Both administrative experiences allowed for further synthesis of the coursework at Seton Hall. Upon completing his post at Bernards Township, Dr. Lanzo was approved as the Assistant Principal of the Henry B. Whitehorne Middle School in Verona. This position offered rewarding experiences with the adolescent population. The development of a school wide character education program and the training of new teachers on staff were integral components of this position in addition to the numerous responsibilities of an administrator.
Following the approval as Principal of Frederic N. Brown School, Dr. Lanzo eagerly began to develop a community of learners through the collaboration with students, parents, and staff. He prides himself on the school spirit that permeates through the hallways of Brown. Dr. Lanzo successfully completed the requirements of the Degree of Doctor of Education in May 2003 from Seton Hall. His study focused on teacher job satisfaction in preselected New Jersey school districts.
Dr. Lanzo enjoys music, reading, trips to the shore, traveling, and time with his family and friends. He is a fan of the New York Yankees and Seton Hall Basketball. He takes pride in his Verona roots as he was raised in this community and is a graduate of Laning, H.B.W., and VHS. He grew up on Floyd Road! Currently Dr. Lanzo resides in West Caldwell with his wife Sharon, son Anthony Arturo, daughter Madeline Marguerite and shih-tzu Bella.
