Put the FUN in fundations...
*use magnetic letters
*use letter cards to spell words (put letters or sounds on index cards to build words)
*make flash cards on index cards and decorate them with clues
*scrabble
*use sidewalk chalk outside
*roll out play dough into "snakes" and form letters / or trace the letters into a flattened chunk of dough
*sprinkle salt, sand, or sugar onto a tray or dish and write the words or sounds with your finger, then gently shake to "erase" or smooth over with your hand
*use a little shaving or whipped cream on a tray or dish; smooth it out; trace your fingers in the cream to make words or sounds; smooth it out to start again
*"write" the word on a surface such as a carpet, wall, palm of hand, or arm (spelling out loud as you trace with your finger)
*dry erase board (a gallon zip lock bag with paper inside or a sheet protector or cover of a binder work as dry erase too)
* write a word three times each while spelling out loud and then flip the paper or dry erase board and write again from memory
*clap, jump, bounce, or crouch down and then pop up to the letters as you spell
*Rainbow write the words (use a different color for each letter or write over each word with a different color three times or write the word three times each with a different color)
*magic write or ghost write the words....write them on white paper with white crayon, then color them over with a marker and the words will appear!
*write the words in colored crayons, color them over hard with a black crayon, then scratch off the black to reveal the words
*write with your non-dominant hand
*write the word and then spell it in sign language
