• Put the FUN in fundations...
     
    *use magnetic letters
    *use letter cards to spell words (put letters or sounds on index cards to build words)
    *make flash cards on index cards and decorate them with clues  
    *scrabble
    *use sidewalk chalk outside
    *roll out play dough into "snakes" and form letters / or trace the letters into a flattened chunk of dough
    *sprinkle salt, sand, or sugar onto a tray or dish and write the words or sounds with your finger, then gently shake to "erase" or smooth over with your hand
    *use a little shaving or whipped cream on a tray or dish; smooth it out; trace your fingers in the cream to make words or sounds; smooth it out to start again 
    *"write" the word on a surface such as a carpet, wall, palm of hand, or arm (spelling out loud as you trace with your finger) 
     *dry erase board (a gallon zip lock bag with paper inside or a sheet protector or cover of a binder work as dry erase too)
    * write a word three times each while spelling out loud and then flip the paper or dry erase board and write again from memory
    *clap, jump, bounce, or crouch down and then pop up to the letters as you spell 
    *Rainbow write the words (use a different color for each letter or write over each word with a different color three times or write the word three times each with a different color)
    *magic write or ghost write the words....write them on white paper with white crayon, then color them over with a marker and the words will appear!
    *write the words in colored crayons, color them over hard with a black crayon, then scratch off the black to reveal the words
    *write with your non-dominant hand
    *write the word and then spell it in sign language
