Welcome to Second Grade!
-
Mrs. Bartell earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Queens College. Her studies continued at Queens College, where she received her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Mrs. Bartell's masters program afforded her the opportunity to leverage her love of children's literature by creating grade level reading programs focusing on such literature. Mrs. Bartell's teaching career began in New York, where she taught second grade for five years. She then taught third grade for three years before getting married and moving to New Jersey with her husband. Once in New Jersey, Mrs. Bartell taught Kindergarten at Kinder-Care, third grade in Bloomfield and, lastly, second grade in Nutley before stepping back to raise her five children. Mrs. Bartell eventually returned to the classroom as a substitute teacher for the Verona Board of Education. This led to a full-time position as a Kindergarten teacher at Forest Avenue School, and she now happily teaches second grade at Forest Avenue School. Mrs. Bartell is certified to teach pre-school through sixth grade.
Mrs. Bartell has lived in Verona for twenty-six years with her husband and five children. In quiet moments, Mrs. Bartell loves to find a comfortable space outdoors and read novels. She and her family enjoy traveling together and spending long days on the beach.
