What is Computer Science?

Computer Science is the study of computers and their computational processes and systems. The job of a computer scientist is to create programs that solve problems in everyday life with the usage of algorithms. Computer Science has multiple languages such as C, C++, #C, Javascript, and Java. Java is one of the most popular starter languages for beginning coders. Java Programs can be tested in an IDE (Integrated Development Environment) such as Eclipse. Eclipse is a free IDE which can be downloaded off of the internet. Beginners won’t have to waste money to test their programming skills. Computer Science is highly efficient in testing experiments because it is cost-effective, while still being accurate. Computer Science is a developing field, which is male dominated, but over the past 10 years female computer science majors are becoming more common. This website will teach the basics of computer programming written in the java language.

• Since 1997 all of the AP courses have drastically rose in enrollment, except for AP computer science that has stayed about the same throughout all of these years.
