Snow Closure on December 17, 2020

Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff, and Community Members,

The impending snow storm is expected to bring significant and sustained snow accumulations and is predicting high wind gusts and snow drifts that may cause hazardous conditions. This storm has the potential to cause power outages for students and staff which may impact access to remote learning for students and staff. As a result of the nature of this storm, the Verona Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, December 17, 2020 due to the snow forecast. The closing of our schools includes the cancellation of all activities.

Our township and district staff will be working to maintain safe roadways, pedestrian routes, and school facilities. Due to the nature of the storm, additional time and efforts are necessary to ensure the safety of students and staff. School and township personnel will take additional necessary measures over the next 24 hours with snow removal from street corners, crosswalks, sidewalks, school drop off areas, parking lots, and roads to prepare our schools and community for regular operation.

If weather events produce significant snow accumulation, power outages, or other hazardous conditions, we will continue to utilize emergency days (snow days) as needed. We will provide as much notification to staff and parents as possible based on impending weather forecasts. We are appreciative of the efforts of our District and Township personnel who will work to get us back up and running as soon as possible. Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Dr. Rui Dionisio
Superintendent of Schools
