Welcome to Mrs. Fernandez's Math Class!
My first experience in teaching came when I was 10 and asked to assist in a martial arts class. Right from then I knew that I wanted to be a teacher. However, when I applied for colleges, I actually decided to try engineering instead since I love both math and science. After a year and a half, I realized that while I enjoyed learning math and science, I missed the aspect of actually teaching people. I quickly decided to change majors and pursue my first passion of teaching.
I am married to my husband, Gary, who owns a gym in Little Falls. We have a son, Aiden, who is almost 3 years old, a dog named Zelda, and a baby on the way (due October 8th)! Besides spending time with my family, I LOVE running long distances in the trails, going to the gym, watching TV, and reading.
I attended TCNJ and transferred after two years to Montclair State University. I graduated from MSU with my degree in Mathematics with a teacher’s certification. After graduating, I taught high school math, then pre-school, and finally ended up at HBW.
This will be my eighth year teaching at HBW. Throughout my career, I have taught at the 7th and 8th grade levels, but 7th grade is my favorite! I look forward to meeting you and a great year together!
