Miss Rebecca Hadjiloucas
Miss Hadjiloucas has been teaching 8th grade social studies at HBW Middle School in Verona, NJ for 2 years. Previously, she has taught middle school social studies in other districts. She graduated summa cum laude with her BA in History and MA in Teaching from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Miss Hadjiloucas is passionate about the history of ancient civilizations and how people today can find commonality with those who came before us thousands of years ago. She has visited historic sites and ruins of Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome and credits her Greek and Italian heritage for her love of learning about the past.
In Miss Hadjiloucas' social studies classroom, students are immersed in hands-on activities that present the study of history as an active and ongoing endeavor. Students build their voices as young historians through primary source analysis, developing skills related to historical literacy in strengthening their active reading through annotation, and crafting their arguments into clearly written and well-supported document based question essays.
In addition to teaching 8th-grade social studies, she also instructs two electives: History and Mysteries which is offered 1st, 3rd, and 4th marking periods and National History Day which is offered 2nd marking period.
Outside of school, Miss Hadjiloucas enjoys spending time with her family, her dog, and her friends. She is a fervent Seinfeld enthusiast.
