•  Message from the Director of Special Services

    Dear Verona Community,

As the Director of Special Education at the Verona Public School District, it is an honor and a privilege to share our commitment of providing a meaningful and successful education to all eligible students. In order to meet or exceed high achievement standards in academic and nonacademic skills, a Free and Appropriate Education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment (LRE) is provided for students with special needs; in compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA 2004). Through the implementation of special education support and/or related aids and services, students have beneficial access to the general curriculum and are held to the same academic standards as their nondisabled peers.

It is our mission to provide a safe and secure learning environment focused on student achievement and academic success to ensure that our students reach their educational and social goals, and succeed in post-secondary life, whether continuing their education or entering the workforce. We provide students with specific programs and services which impacts student learning outcomes, through differentiated instruction, support, and interventions.

I look forward in meeting and working with you in this school year. I would like to reassure my commitment of pursuing a FAPE in the LRE and protecting the individual rights of our youth and their families. Together, our students can achieve educational excellence through specialized academic instruction, attending to their individual proficiencies, and addressing their academic and social needs.

     Thank You!

    Frank A. Mauriello

    Director of Special Services
