The major objective of the athletic program is to provide wholesome opportunities for students to develop positive leadership habits and attitudes of social and group interaction#

 

Athletics plays an important part in the life of Verona High School#  Young people learn a great deal from participation in interscholastic athletics#  Lessons in sportsmanship, teamwork, competition and how to win and lose gracefully are integral parts of our athletic program#  Athletic participation also plays an important part in helping students develop a healthy self-concept as well as a healthy body#  Athletic competition also improves school spirit and helps students develop pride in their school#

 

Our philosophy extends beyond athletics to our team community service projects and assisting those less fortunate than ourselves. During the 2012-2013 Verona High School Athletic teams raised approximately $2000 for the following charities:

Our scholar-athletes from the 2012-2013 school year will be furthering their education at the University of Washington, Syracuse University, Indiana University and Ramapo College.

Verona High School has a tradition of competitive athletics evidenced by numerous championships from a vast majority of sports. Each year the Super Essex Conference awards a trophy for outstanding athletic performance as points are totaled for championships and final placements in a team's respective divisions.

In the 2012-2013 year the Verona High School Girls' athletic teams finished 1st among 38 schools in the conference or county, just nosing out 2nd place Livingston High School by .8 of a point.

Over the last 5 years Verona High School recorded 32 state and conference championships in football, boys’ and girls’ basketball, wrestling, ice hockey, girls' lacrosse, boys and girls cross country and track, in addition to girls' and boys’ tennis. Also, girls’ track has registered conference championships in 10 out of the last 12 years.
